In 1951 Bad Wimpfen took on responsibility for those who had been driven out of their homes in and around Oedenburg (today Sopron). The west Hungarian regional town, situated south of the Neusiedlersee in Györ-Sopron, has a great cultural tradition. The oldest known human tribe which settled there were the Illerians. Followed by the Celts, Romans and Avariens. The monuments have been largely renovated, and the town was awarded an Europa Prize for their restoration and protection. Besides the development as an important tourist area, new industries developed, as well as colleges and a University with research facilities of a western standard. Today Sopron is a centre of wine and light industry. Besides modern restaurants and hotels there are many sport and leisure facilities, for example indoor and outdoor swimingpools, the Franz-Liszt, pharmacy and mining museums, as well as important churches and many other interesting sights. Since 1991 Sopron has been twinned with Bad Wimpfen.

On the 24th May of 1967 the town council of Bad Wimpfen decided unanimously to enter into this partnership.
Servian is situated in the Département Hérault in southern France (near to Béziers, the partner town of Heilbronn), has about 3500 inhabitants and is a winegrowing community.
Servian covers an area of about 4000 hectares. The Cave Co-operative produces 100.000- 150.000 hl of wine annually. A large sports complex with playing fields (soccer/rugby), tennis courts, indoor swimming pool and a Camphotel form a tourist magnet in the region. The historic old town with medieval church, the town park and the festival room invite to stay. Everything is more relaxed than at the Mediterranean beaches 25 kilometers away, and also cheaper.
